Hydrogen storage will play an extremely important role for the storage of renewable energy in the future. Storing renewable energy, such as wind and solar in the form of hydrogen allows for long term storage of these weather dependent energy sources. During peak hours or seasons, renewable energy is generated in high amounts, sometimes exceeding our demand. This is where hydrogen can play a significant role to store this energy as gas. The electrons generated from renewables are converted into hydrogen which can be either used directly for industrial applications, such as direct reduction of iron ore (DRI) in steel production, but also used in fuel cells or turbines to generate electricity in periods where renewable energy is not available.
We recognize the importance of storing hydrogen for these purposes and have products to seal the various pumps and compressors used in these applications.
