EagleBurgmann offers the TS3 thermosiphon system specifically for the supply of dual action mechanical seals in sterile processes. It is specifically designed for productions with high demands on cleaning and sterilization capability in the biochemical, food and pharmaceutical industries.
The TS3 thermosiphon system performs all the functions of a barrier fluid system for the operation of double mechanical seals. It ensures pressure build-up in the buffer chamber, circulation of buffer fluid (e.g. steam condensate) and volume compensation according to the pressure ratios in the system. It also cools the seal and prevents dry running. If there is no steam condensate available in the production plant, the thermosiphon system is capable of generating its own condensate.
The complete process should be considered when selecting the optimum design. Decisive factors are the product to be manufactured, the installation situation, cleaning cycles and the tolerated quantity and size of germs and microorganisms. This is why we recommend early and close coordination between the user and the system manufacturer.
Vessels, instruments and pipe connections of the supply system are designed for both "Sterilization in Place" (SIP) and "Cleaning in Place" (CIP). Connections for the cleaning agent or the steam are installed as standard. If necessary, spray balls or rotating spray heads can be installed inside the vessels. Elaborately ground and electropolished surfaces on both the outside and inside of the containers allow effective cleaning and reduce bacterial growth.
Process and instrument related connections and connecting pieces are designed according to the latest "Hygienic Design" principles. For easy and quick cleaning, they are as close to the process as possible. There is no need for time-consuming disassembly before cleaning. The container and all attachments are self-draining. This prevents any residual liquid from remaining in the system.
Thanks to their modular design, the thermosiphon vessels can be combined with numerous system connections and attachments according to customer requirements.
The vessel is installed above the mechanical seal to ensure that the thermosiphon effect commences. It contains a cooling coil to cool the buffer fluid, and its separable design makes cleaning easier. The interface between the two vessel parts is sealed free of dead space with an O-ring on the inside diameter, with sufficient expansion space for the O-ring in the event of temperature fluctuations during operation.
The standard containers have a volume of approx. 8.5 liters and are approved for a pressure of up to 10 bar(g) at a maximum temperature of 150 °C (302 °F). Further designs can be supplied as required by the customer.
EagleBurgmann is certified according to the most common pressure vessel regulations worldwide. Depending on customer requirements, vessels can be manufactured according to PED (Pressure Equipment Directive, EU Directive), based on the German AD2000, according to the American ASME VIII, Div. 1 with or without U-Stamp and according to the European EN13445 standard.
